Analysis of distance learning methods for elementary students during the COVID'19 pandemic

In Indonesia, even around the world, there is an outbreak of a virus originating from China, namely the Corona virus or called COVID19. During this pandemic, the situation became unstable, which forced everyone to stay at home to avoid contracting COVID-19 and maintain their immune system. Employee workers, laborers are forced to carry out their activities from home (WFH), including students learning through online media or distance learning (PJJ).

Therefore, now I will have a little conversation with my nephew who is in grade 3 elementary school about distance learning activities.

From the results of the interviews I conducted with my nephew, it can be described that learning is carried out remotely via online where all student parent numbers are entered into the WhatsApp group created by the teacher, there every day the teacher provides material and assignments to students accompanied by their parents to study at home and to collect assignments through the group as well. Once a week, learning is carried out in group work / joint study to keep track of students' progress, where students are formed into groups according to the closest house distance in order to maintain health protocols and the teacher takes turns visiting the group's student house to teach the material more clearly.

In terms of the learning media used, the WhatsApp Group, in my opinion, is sufficient for elementary school children especially still in grade 3 because not all children can access other learning applications such as Zoom meetings, Google Classroom and others. If you can use it, students will not be able to pay attention to the teacher completely because students usually get bored quickly.

In my opinion, in addition, students should be given a YouTube link for the material provided, such as an animated video which contains material so that students can also remember with their hearing and sight.
